Setup by the founder of seminal drum and bass label Certificate 18, Paul Arnold’s Fat! Records is now in its third year. Paul’s parties have graced dance floors over the globe, and his Chew the Fat! nights have now been running longer than anyone cares to remember. Running every Friday of the month, Chew the Fat! in Brixton became the breakbeat stable of the capital, exposing some of the newest artists and DJs who have since become main players on the scene. With all the new music being brought down to the night, Paul decided to launch Fat! Records and put the Underground Sound of Brixton Breakbeat on wax. The label released a Lee Coombs remix of Psychotropic’s classic ‘Hypnosis’ with huge support, went on with numerous releases from the ever popular Apollo Kids and is now developing artists Daddy and Friendly. Fat! has always been a purveyor of high quality, original, creative party tracks, and Friendly’s forthcoming album should demonstrate their strength in today’s dance music scene. With Chew the Fat! now running in all corners of London and Fat! Records releases being exposed in clubs and over the airwaves worldwide, ‘The Underground Sound of Brixton Breakbeat’ is now available for everyone.
